regardless of what happens, newcastle united have badly let down local youngsters and hindered them making their mark on the game.

wonder how many parents rue the day they let their kids join NUFC academy?

I remember this happening at the time as a sort of relative by marriage was in the academy at the time.

Aye, I dread to think how many 'Longstaffs' we've missed out on or even ruined...

Yes kids at those ages need to be nurtured and tended with care. I know they are going to be prepared for a hard, harsh profession but at that age very few can take the over the top discipline which some sergeant majors seem is necessary.

It's a bit like the difference between the Army Cadets for youngsters and the full military training for real war.

Bring them on slowly and steadily at their own pace until they mature and develop.

It said in an article a one kid was captain for one of Englands youth teams, Apparently Shearer was saying the kid was good and asking why he was not getting games and progressing. When he came back from England games the coaches seemed pissed off at him and sent him to play in under 15 games & the Gibson brother who went to Everton were being bullied by Beardsley. I hope it is not true that our owners of 17 years have know about this ****.
