    Correct.

I was posting on Pravda when the Derry thing started.

I warned then what was happening to the younger element and that they wud just **** off and do something more interesting instead......i was sneered at and told we didn't want these supporters at the game.

Low and behold 3 years later we have nae atmosphere, nae crowd and nae young folk.

Did anybody ask them to see what they wanted, did anybody communicate with them.....no we had a stadium manager who sent in the bully boys and someone from the DSA who is aulder than me lecturing them and a club who bent over and took it from some unelected ****wit at the council.

Think this is a very very important comment being made and not for the first time.

I think the DFC board should look closely at how they could revive the SE. It used to be the place to go for the youngsters and on my visits as an oldie I found it a fun place to be. I'd have a special set of prices for the SE and try to sell it out starting right now for next season. If the DFC board got that place buzzing with enthusiastic supporters who were interested in supporting the team I think it might boost the players and drive them on to better performances. Napoleon's army marched to a drumbeat that was incessant - Heaven forbid that we got drums banging out but the principle was the same, get the noise level up and the atmosphere going before the team even gets on the pitch, what a difference it would make, IMO.

Leave if you want, we just want new customers so can charge more.

My father took me to Dens in the fifties, and I have been going ever since, my family are all Dundee fans, and I take my grandsons to the games.
I see the oap discount as a reward for my loyalty after all these years of loyal support.
I think your wrong, the new customers tickets are being paid for by someone like yourself, I will pay for a student and an under 16 ticket along with my own adult, hopefully this chain will keep going

    Hi Rross,

you were posting at the same time as I was replying to Deecom's post. You will know that there were serious concerns about the SE being forced to close. It didn't happen because of the actions taken by the club. I know there's great debate about what else could have been done and whether or not the board could have resisted and told the licensing committee that they were not going to do anything to destroy the unique atmosphere in the SE, but it doesn't work like that.

Having had 3 seasons of exemplary behaviour it makes it even more difficult to argue that the "problems" as identified by the licensing authorities, were NOT cured by the changes made to the seating arrangements. IMO we need to be more creative and see if there is a way to relaiunch attending Dens and sitting in the SE. Perhaps more seats could be returned to use, perhaps using free seating so that people can gravitate to their friends, perhaps charging a lower price for ST holders in the SE, who knows but I think that if FPS made a concerted attempt to promote the SE as THE place to go if you're passionate about the DEE's they might get somewhere in restoring the atmosphere in the SE.

I have not sat in the SE since the changes so obviously I don't know what practical alterations could/should be made. Maybe some of the regulars could give their views and help push things forward.

We need to pull together and IMO restating grievances and trying to point out where mistakes have been made will not help. The quality of the football at Dens has been very poor, the results even more so but if you think back to the 2-4 game against Hibs, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a great deal more optimism about the future for the Dee's after that game than there was before it. We can do this but we need to pull together.

Tend to agree with you JDFC. Grandparents/parents taking their grandchildren/children to Dens was always the way. Getting lifted over the turnstyles was normal for wee kids and the club needs to get across the fact that for the youngest fans a season ticket holder can bring their youngsters for very little money, but to do that they need to make a regular commitment. "Overcharging" for PATG is a pricing policy that does not encourage return visits and something needs to be done to allow any full price ticket to qualify for the purchase of a really low price kid's ticket.

It’s obvious the behaviour has improved, there as no young ones are going in there, at least not in numbers of a few seasons ago, the behaviour of old firm fans at dens hasn’t improved but I don’t see any threat to the Shankly

Make it exciting, a decent price and give youngsters what they want and they will come.

I'll bet my bottom dollar there will be a guid few under 25s who will be at paisley and possibly perth but won't be at Dens for the next game. Why is that?
Probably should've added in that we've lost a generation to drugs and computer games and dare I say it losing United to the fizzy pop..not sure how we make it exciting ...as for Paisley it's the biggest game of the season so far and we have a good chance of winning... throw in an away day on the drink and from memory was always an attraction

I'll continue to state the blindingly obvious.

You let people be a bit more exuberant in that part of the ground

The French, Germans, Italians, Dutch, South Americans all seem to accomadate ultras etc......even other clubs in Scotland.....but Dundee stamped it right out among the home fans, away fans can crack on though.

We have a stadium manager who "dosent understand passion".....that's a direct quote.

Motherwell, Celtic, rangers, st j, hibs, hearts all have pretty vocal sections that there club's seem to police fairly well ( maybe Celtic have problems ) but we couldn't accomadate 50/150 vocal youngsters.

And afore someone says 150 why bother.....that 150 creates the atmosphere that filters round the rest of the ground.
