It does seem that when Yorkshire produce a good player they seem to get an international call up.

Was there a saying that when Yorkshire has a good team then so do England?

    Friday 12th - Day 2

    Yorkshire piled up 554 - 7 declared.

Their third highest Championship match total.

    Hants are on 74 - 3

Nice concept but didn't do them much good for the quarter century between 1968-92 when other counties brought in overseas players and Yorkshire were left behind. Unless the other counties are prepared to adopt a similar practice then there's no point in trying to succeed on a sloping playing field. Same in any sport really. Time you adopted franchising, drafting and salary caps just like the good ol' US

And that’s my point, it’s a mercenary set up with little connection to Yorkshire, so difficult to get fully connected.

    O/T Day 3 Hants v Yorks

Cold, damp weather overnight doesn't seemed to have changed the playing surface of the Rose Bowl much. However, the fast bowlers' big feet have created some rough patches outside the line of the stumps. Just before lunch, Root got a delivery to turn so much that it pitched well outside the off stump and missed leg by some distance! Might see some more spin this afternoon then. Rashid is still out injured with a shoulder problem- commentators said that he might be back next week- but we have "part-time" spinners Root, Lyth and Leaning playing and they who might get a bowl.
Hants 188-5 at Lunch, but one of those dismissed today was the night watchman, Abbott.

Great day for Yorkshire after a slowish start
Hants 302 all out and, following on, 51-5
Weather forecast for tomorrow looks ok, so a great chance to get our first 2019 win on the board

Really surprised at the way Yorkshire have performed in this match, especially so with the bowling.
A win looks on the cards in this match. Sunday could be interesting.
