Dobbie v Shankland is another matter surely. In any case Ayr are going to be in the play-offs that we aspired to at the top end so they'll have "extra" competitive games too. The strong likelihood with Dobbs injured is that Shankland will score more league goals but Dobbie's total for all first team matches will be higher.
    JIMMY RUTHERFORD scored 36 League goals and 5 in the Cup = 41 in a season 1931 - 32
JIMMY GRAY scored 37 League goals and 1 in the Cup = 1927 - 28

Us being in the play offs is the reason I have brought this topic back up as I could foresee this situation happening. Now then , Dobbie is not fit but we need to win through four games and he needs two goals. Will he do it and will we do it ?

Doubt they could handle us if we played like we did against Dunfermline at home 3 weeks ago and that was without Dobs.

If we play him alongside another striker he should be fine. I expect as well if we play Low he'll be in a forward position to create things not holding hands with the centre halves.

Will be interesting to see what Keeper AJ goes with.

I really don't think we are in a position to call anyone " cannon fodder". Worth noting that East Fife failed to get into the First Division play offs. I was at the Cup game up there this season and while the Fifers weren't the most gifted, they were tough, well organised and we couldn't break them down. Montrose finished above them.. If we are to prevail ,then we will need to work blody hard for it.

They were also tough to crack last season in the Scottish Cup as a League Two club.
