Not sure, don’t think so though. Maybe he was a target for the Evans scattergun that he didn’t hit.

There was a time when Bamford used his middle name and was known as Jamie Bamford.

Maybe now the name Patrick Bamford is associated with cheating he might go back to using Jamie again.

Bamford went down holding his face after an altercation with Anwar El Ghazi following the home side's controversial opening goal.

El Ghazi was sent off but has now had the red card rescinded.

Bamford has until 18:00 BST on Wednesday to respond to the charge.

An FA statement said: "It is alleged the Leeds United player's behaviour in the 72nd minute of the fixture, which involved committing a clear act of simulation that led to Anwar El Ghazi being dismissed, amounts to improper conduct."

If found guilty or he decides to accept the charge, the former England Under-21 striker will face a two-match suspension, which would see him miss the final game of the regular season at Ipswich on Sunday and the first leg of Leeds' play-off semi-final tie.

In addition, both clubs have been charged with failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in the aftermath of Leeds' goal.

They have until 18:00 on Friday to respond to their respective charges.

I fail to see why Leeds have been charged with failing to conduct themselves in an orderly fashion, baring in mind that it was the Villa players that did all the aggressive attacking on the Leeds players. To a man, the Leeds players were merely trying to separate the players being attacked by the Villa players. Had the Villa players not attacked the Leeds players this case wouldn't have to be answered.

As for Bamford, he deserves a four match ban so he totally misses out on the play offs and the play off final if Leeds make it that far. Disgusting behaviour by him which clearly shows what a scumbag cheat he is.
Love your last sentence Brin you being a big fan of Steve Evans.

There's was a lot of deceiving of the officials going on this season largely from opposition CB,s against Smudger.
Problem is that experienced cship players are a lot more subtle than we are and are very good at masking their offences.
There,s an art to it an it's one thing we could vastly improve on. Fight fire with fire because taking a higher moral stance isn't going to get us enough points.

I was being legit where Evans had nothing to do with it. Bit like a school fight where one lad started it, the other defended himself but they both got the cane, not fair in my opinion.

    BREAKING NEWS"

Leeds striker Patrick Bamford has been banned for two matches by the Football Association after being found guilty of "successful deception of a match official" in the draw with Aston Villa.

Bamford went down as though he had been hit by Villa's Anwar El Ghazi after the home side's controversial opening goal.

El Ghazi was sent off but had the red card rescinded on Tuesday.

Bamford will miss Sunday's Championship trip to Ipswich and the first leg of Leeds' play-off semi-final tie.

Leeds said in a statement that although the 25-year-old did not deny the charge they had requested a hearing to "contest the penalty imposed on the player".

They added: "The club felt that given the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the extraordinary act of sportsmanship which saw our head coach Marcelo Bielsa demand our team to allow Aston Villa to score an uncontested equaliser, we could have a sensible discussion around the sanction.

The gaul of the club, firkin laughable and there was me feeling sorry for them.

Players successfully deceive match officials in almost every game every week up and down the country at every level. We've suffered all season watching opposition players throwing themselves all over the place and refs /linesmen buying it. But when it happens in a high profile game involving two big clubs, suddenly it's worth looking into further?!

FIFA/UEFA are to blame for trying to reinvent the game as a non contact sport and abolishing common sense refereeing. Diving and feigning is a foreign import which sadly has become standard practice in every game.

When you consider the standard of the Championship and the players within it, there's no way that the level of match officials gets anywhere near the same standard. Most haven't played football to any great degree so they are easy to fool.

So are you suggesting Grist that only referees who have played football to a near championship standard should be allowed to referee in the championship? I'm not having a go at you btw, I just wonder what your thinking was behind that statement?

No not exactly, just that the standard of refereeing has to be much higher than it is.

It would help if ex players coached potential refs on the “black arts’ of football if they aren’t ex players themselves.
