People have switched to the Brexit Party, UKIP are going for younger voters choosing YouTube and Twitter personalities as candidates and they don't vote in Council elections, plus they appointed Tommy Robinson as an adviser and he's a trouble magnet to say the least, his criminal past and poor press scares off the middle-class types. It's better to have only one Brexit-supporting party anyway so the vote doesn't get split.

    No great surprises.

UKIP have served their purpose in many people's eyes, getting a brexit referendum

Conservatives are a divided party full of self centred politicians wanting their own way "lead" by a woman that's way out of her depth.

Labour surprisingly at a time when the tories were ripe for a hammering decided to be London centric and tried to woo Northern brexiteers and London remainers. They failed when the forgotten folks of the northern territories bit back. Another massive chance missed.

The Lib Dems are celebrating because they picked up a lot of votes where voters found the Tories, Labour and UKIP too rediculous to vote for.

Some couldn't even bring themselves to vote Lib Dem knowing they are full of loony Waitrose shoppers and voted for Independents and Greens.

As the party in power the Tories would have took a drubbing anyway but probably not as bad as this.

But Labour? Wow what a mistake it was not listening to the northern voters who in the main voted to leave the EU, all that sitting on the fence when it was clear that the majority of Labour voters are for leaving the EU.

Labour's performance could however have been a whole lot worse considering that there were no council elections in Rotherham or Doncaster. I suspect that sitting Labour councillors in those two areas are thanking God it wasn't their turn at the polling booths.

As mentioned above, if we get the EU elections then expect more protest voting particularly in favour of Farage's new brexit party. Which will be more meaningful because it's a country wide vote and not just certain areas.

If Labour want to win a general election they have to reconnect with the north, firmly back brexit and win back confidence. If not they will be in the shadows for much longer than they hoped.
