It (narrowing the gap) was bound to happen as a 9 month long 20 horse race in which only 4 (except for the odd Foxes type glitch) ever have a chance of winning it will eventually get boring and interest will wane.

27 seasons of the EPL will have seen 6 teams crowned Champions.

The last 27 Division One seasons saw 10 different sides win it.

Look further at the number of clubs finishing in the top 3 and you see many more sides up there in the last 27 seasons of D1 than in 27 years of the EPL.
