Thread: What a massive gamble (Lampard)

  1. #11
    Yes it’s a huge gamble

But established managers would be reluctant to do the job due to Chelsea’s transfer embargo.

Lampard as a manager has won nothing, I suspect Chelsea will do the same whilst he’s there.

Poor sods only had 1 season as a manager and got to the Championship play off final.

That would be deemed as successful in many people's eyes, certainly those that matter anyway lol.

True, but what would the fans reaction be at Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Spurs or Arsenal if it was announced that Lampard was to be their new manager?

Top clubs need managers with records of winning, not nearly winning.

It doesn't seem to matter at Chelsea how successful you are , you will only ever have a two season shelf life .

There's nothing to suggest Lampard will be any different , Mourhino won three titles and was sacked twice , Di Matteo won the Champions League and received his marching orders and Conte won the PL in his first season and left the club after season two .

Chelsea are a million miles behind City and Liverpool at the moment and can't sign a single player .

Why Frank Lampard under those circumstances will change the dynamics is anyone's guess .

Sacked after two seasons , he'll get a free ride for 12 months on account of services as a player but that's about as good as it will get .

He'll take the Brighton job in two years time and try to get them back in the PL after they are inevitably relegated .

Ermm...wasn't Solskyaer sacked by Cardiff not too long before taking over at Merchandise United? His claim to fame was scoring the winner in 1999. One game, not the clubs all time record goalscorer.

He had managerial success with Molde in Norway, including some experience of managing in euro competitions.

Lampard though even managed to lose at the NYS, though it was the grass not his bad tactics

Wilder had a fraction of Lamps' budget and Derby were light years behind Sufc.
The main reason being that CW knows how to manage players and get consistently good results.......and FL doesn't.

Good first season? Compare that to our Manager who got us promoted at the first attempt after the complete and utter mess that Stubbs and Jackett left behind.
FL didn't have any real turmoil to deal with and had a huge budget and yet Derby were never going to go up. No chance.

He's actually landed on his feet now because no one expects him to finish above City, Lpool, Manu and a few others so as long as they don't finish below say 7th then he will probably not receive too much criticism.

He may become good over time as Southgate has done but at the moment he's no more than a celebrity Manager

Think the comparison to Wilder is a bit unfair tbh. He's managed about 5 clubs and has hundreds and hundreds of games as a manager under his belt. He's done a fantastic job for Sufc, of that there's no doubt but he's a very experienced manager compared to FL.

Frank Lampard has had 1 season and regardless of what Derby usually do blah blah blah, he got them to the play off final. That's not bad for a rookie in my opinion.

The blokes an absolute winner and I hope he does well. A young British manager being given a chance for a change. How unusual is that eh!!!

I wonder what Darren Moore makes of it, having been sacked for being 2 places above Frank Lampards Derby County in the championship.

Lol, I'd forgotten that. We beat his prancing puffs, he was sent to the stands, and it was all because of the grass. The same grass that grows on the pitch which year after year wins best in show. 😂😂😂
