I remember going into Sheffield then going down an escalator and then past a big fish tank and some tramps.

Whenever I was ill as a child my Irish gran gave me warm boiled eggs with a scoop of butter chopped up in a tea mug.

She also said she’d have disowned me if I had spelled my son’s Conor name with 2 n’s because that was for ignorant English people.

She was very special.

I have/had a Scottish/Irish/catholic grandma an couldn’t understand a word she said until a wore Me Glasgow rangers top to her house.

Still didn’t understand her accent as she raved at me but she made me a cup of tea....

As you get on a bit you start remembering things that may or not have happened. I have a vivid memory of walking through Sheffield City centre and them having electric double decker busses that played music because they were so quiet.

Is this a thing that happened or did I dream it?

Double decker buses did play music - well, background music - for a while in the early 80s - the one I recall was on the X7 service that travelled along Sheffield Parkway
