But effectively we scored two and them one (own goal)
That was embarrasing today. Back to the woeful days of last season. We haven't changed a thing. All that talk, ultimately is a load of *******s. We make signings, we have good young players. We even have a bit of money. But having the worst defence on the league last season has been ignored. As much as I can see some good things happening at the club, I'm not sure I can sit through another season of Bennett run around puffing his cheeks out and being so inept. I'm not sure I can endure another 90 mins. I'm just wondering if TM is actually going to do something about him and Mulgrew are finished.
We desperately need a centre half. I think we need 2. And id move heaven and earth to get Reed back. Because it's dawning on me, he will start with Downing most weeks. Which is a massive concern. I'm hoping he can see the huge glaring problems we have, but sadly, I'm not so sure this time. We ran into this last season. And i thought wed come out the other sid. We had no game plan today. He picked the wrong side. We played at the wrong tempo. And let a very poor side beat us, pretty comfortably. At home.
My heart sank when I saw Mulgrew, Bennett and Downing all starting. The latter is fine. But he's a last 10 or 15 mins player. To see us out to a win. A calming influence.
I didn't realise he was Here to start games. Personally, I think that's insulting.
And if a centre half by trade can't see where the problems are, then heaven help us.
I was considering Fulham away. No chance.
I'll be watching what TM says now, and how he reacts. And what he does to address this. Who he moves on, and who he brings in. As this side won't be any better than last season.
Do you think you'll struggle then this season Champs ?. Im surprised at your team losing to newly promoted Charlton tbh.
I know we'll struggle but Im going to try and enjoy the season for what it is, and try not to worry about it too much (but thats easier said than done of course lol).
We held on to beat one of the alleged season favourites Fulham today, so who knows, maybe Im over-rating the Champship before a ball has even been kicked!.
No. We won't struggle. I just thought we could push on a bit. We generally start a season poorly. We have a huge problem with our defence. And it's been ignored again.
And our manager is a pragmatist. So he will go for old has been's over a younger, better player. And wouldn't dare set us up to go and attack such a poor newly promoted side, literally there for the taking. He goes with caution. At home to ****ing Charlton. It's a bit pathetic.
Great start for you boys. Looking at all the Championship results, almost all had a shock result. Nobody predicted Charlton or you winning. I never saw Sheff Wed winning, or Birmingham winning away at Brentford. Same with PNE losing at Millwall. It wasn't just us playing completely ****e. But it doesn't soften the blow.
We will turn things around sooner rather than later. We have a very decent squad. And some very good young players. Trouble is, we may not see much of them. As the manager appears to favour older inferior ones. So could be on his way if this turns into a bad start.
Its odd that you say that Champs, that your boss Tony Moobs prefers older inferior players. We haven't seen any older players at our club now for goodness knows how many years lol... because of our daft insistence on signing players u24!.
What do you reckon then this season, will it be Leeds going up as possible Champions as most people are saying they will. Fulham & Cardiff both lost today of course so maybe they should both re-think their promotion odds.
We passed a big test today, but to be honest our first real yard-stick of the season comes next Satdy when we visit our big rivals Sheff Wensdy. We never do well there at Pigswillsbrough stadium, so I think we'd all be happy if we could avoid defeat and take 4 points from the two opening games.
Nothing is won or lost in August
Leeds will creep into the play offs and I fully expect Cardiff and Fulham to go up automatically
As for us probably mid table mediocrity.
Acido I think both your lot and Luton will stay up comfortably, and I still think Charlton will drop despite the result yesterday.
