When I stopped laughing I politely reclined.

Actually I told him to F off.
Gordon (£1.2m a year) Taylor has just been on talksport saying the pfa had been paying Bury player wages last season when they got promoted and he felt sorry for the clubs Bury pipped to promotion.

Fair point really considering they were offering players £4k like you say then getting the pfa to pay it.

None of this is the supporters fault, and this is why I don't demand record sums be spent on our transfers.

Give me a new Halfords lane stand any day over a Burke.

The EFL has failed the supporters badly. Just look at the behaviour of these jokers who have been entrusted to run these clubs of late and they should not have been let anywhere near these clubs. The Bolton chairman was disqualified as a director for 8 years by Companies House yet still managed to cream off a 1.5M salary and also to pay his son a £125K consultancy fee .....whilst Rome burned.

But as has been pointed out already, many clubs simply cannot help themselves choosing to overpay average players salaries way out of synch with their Club / business incomes which is why clubs who fall foul of the fair play rule should be hammered promoted or not.

I met on several occasions the ex Arsenal keeper Bob Wilson - a good bloke btw. I remember him telling me that the money was simply not in the game to support so many professional players and that many clubs and the EFL should cut their cloth accordingly rather than shelling out salaries to average players that put many business owners and Directors of public companies to shame.
