Mixed feeling about this. First and foremost I want to see him get us up. Concerned all this exposure someone will come in for him in January. What price do you put on promotion? Also does anyone know if there is a release cause in his contract if a certain transfer fee is met?

No point worrying about January, just the 12 league games till then, we'd be made to sell before summer at earliest, if we did get promoted could even see him here for another half season, but definitely for this season

However we could still win games without him too, not like we'd be playing with ten men, just win in a different way... We would still be difficult to play against and beat.

Safranko got a full cap from a nation that would gub Scotland by scoring far less for United. Should only do Shankland good, even if it's only training with the squad and being in about the national team. He should be really bouncing after the break.

    Congratulations LoA

Don't think he'd join in the summer to leave in January. I'm sure the staff at United will be working with him on the best way to develop his career and TA knows more than anyone about sitting on the bench in Scotland's wettest city. If he stays til the end of the season which I think he will, there's bound to be speculation about him but I trust the Ogrens to get this right.

Meantime well done to the boy.

And this will be pis sing the Dees off no end. Win/win

I think it's a great decision, there certainly isn't a massive gulf in class between the two divisions and I think Shankland would do a job for practically any Premier team. Scotland are hardly blessed with strikers so it's a no brainer. Well done Clarke for actually picking young Scottish players, no matter who they play for, rather than somebody whose Aunty's granny once visited Gretna.

Surely The Rangers will be much more interested in any of ‘The Three Best Strikers In The Division Who Wouldn’t Be Out Of Place In The Premier League’. They’re on fire.

I doubt Shankland is going ANYWHERE for the foreseeable future.

But when the time comes, he'll surely go to a club in England where he can earn some big money instead of Sevco.

He's 25 yrs old next year, and he will want to secure some financial security over the next stage of his career. The likes of Sevco and the green brigade can't compete with many of the clubs down South in terms of wages.

He'll obviously avoid DFC as he wouldn't fancy being the 4th choice striker.
