When somebody cuts you deep you have to close up the wound in any way shape or form in order to do a decent healing job.
He only has 2 objectives :-
1- to maintain sky money at minimal cost
2- to p!ss the fans off .
Obv empty seats are not good publicity .. Pity more people don't have the bo!!ocks to see what's happening . All smiles at the moment .. But mark my words ,this style of dreadful football will not keep us up long term. Looking likely to this season as Norwich and Watford look gone , but no investment in Jan and a couple of injuries who knows.
Just like out of date or rotten produce in a shop
You give it away
If the club is prepared to give away tickets to fill the ground, then it shows that a 10,000 boycott is working....
My guess is sponsors (the few that do pay) are demanding full seats as a backdrop to their investment.
Making the offer of free season tickets available to current season ticket holders means they dont pi55 off the paying fans.
It means 10,000 people who k now a season ticket holder are gonna a get a free xmas present and fatty fills his stadium...
He is rattled... now is the time to turn up the heat... not to fold and let him win again.
It would be lovely if the reason was... potential buyers want the ground full 1st...
Sorry.
As a potential buyer you'd be a bit of a fool if you didn't know that you could fill the ground again just by buying the club.
It's a terrible move for the club and long term sale of tickets to the ground but quite clever in that he is giving these free tickets to existing season ticket holders, most of who have decided to continue to go. I hope those with season tickets who aren't going apply for a free one and then don't use it as well.
For me, this just shows that the boycott is working...to an extent. For him to choose to lose money means that the lack of atmosphere and gaps in the stands are hurting his brand, his baby...Sports Direct and he'll do anything he can to protect his number one concern.
I think, if the numbers continue to drop, then the next time someone comes calling with a wad of cash, I think his response might be different. If you think about it, most of us reckoned we'd need to at least halve our attendance before there were any murmurings from those in charge but for this to happen now? I've never believed that old adage about there being no such things as bad publicity. Let's face it-he's not giving away these tickets out of the goodness of his heart-the brand he'd taken for granted is starting to suffer and it's hurting him, it must be. This should actually be a time for fan groups to redouble their efforts to hassle him and to get fans to stay away.
As an aside, I fully expect more takeover talk in the next few weeks to try to distract the fans and media from what's going on.
