"Exactly a decade ago Dundee were 12 points ahead of ICT going into the new decade. We finished the season 12 behind them. That's a 24 point swing that nobody would have believed possible at the turn of the year"

"We had GGH and Sparky, the two best players in the league. We had a handsome lead. They had good players, they worked hard and when the results came we fell to bits.Something similar couldn't happen again could it?.Be nice if we could at least test their mettle."

"The title is certainly gone after today but a second successive relegation cannot be ruled out after Morton won cutting the gap between us and 9th to 7 points.
If the board, manager and players think we can drift along until the end of the season putting in mediocre performances and not be drawn into a relegation battle they'll be in for a surprise."

Its got to be said that only a Funster could post about the same team being potential champions and suffering a double relegation in under 24 hours,FACT.

What is great about that season 2009/10 that he highlights is that when we had 3/4 game mini slump in late Dec and early Jan after Levein left and while Houston was unsure whether he wanted it and they were 12 clear in this league they were posting about passing us on their way up as we'd go into free fall post Levein, oh and they they laughed that in the Scottish Cup QF draw they pulled out Raith at home while we got champions Rangers at Ibrox who hadn't lost a domestic cup tie since Walter Smith returned and were going for a treble

Instead we went on an absolutely excellent run in League and Cup, cruised to 3rd with a few games remaining, In the quarter final we came from 3-1 at ibrox to get a deserved draw before beating them with a last min winner at Tannadice off happy feet erse causing absolute bedlam in the Eddie lower, went onto beat Raith in the semi final on a sunny day at Hampden (because they'd knocked out the fun, who obviously didn't fancy a derby defeat at Hampden) before going back again a month later in front of 28000 arabs in a sea of tangerine to lift the big cup for a second time

Transatlantic call between Dens and Houston 31/01/20

Tim Keyes. "Right James you fell out with Johnson our top goalscorer and he plays in the Orient now is that correct?."

    McPoke. "Yes boss."

Nelms "What do you want us to do Tim?."

Keyes. "Get me a new striker by midnight, and call me with the details."

Nelms and McPoke "Ok boss we are on it."

24 hours later and the window has just closed.

Keyes "Ok guys how did you get on?.

Nelms "We got you 3 for the price of one Tim."

McPoke "Left back,Right back and centre half boss."

Keyes "We need to have a long meeting on GOHD guys."

Look, be kind to the Chappie. This is merely the difference between overt optimism and reality. We all dream. Who hasn't dreampt of United winning the Cup/League or whatever, yet faced the reality of 'Alloa' all in the same day? However, there are some things best kept to ourselves. The last 47 years have caused most of their sub-middle age support to survive on dreams. Let's make an effort to stop waking them up. I'm sure Rip van Winkle had many pleasant dreams which bore no relation to reality!
