I seem to recall that Chris Wolstenholme had tried to get this idea going but his management company said ticket sales were a problem to the east side of the Pennines.
Yorkshire folk will travel to The Manchester area but they won't come over here.

Also don't forget that the NYS pitch surface is even protected by having no regular reserves games there, so other events seem unlikely at present

I’m sure we’ve discussed this before on here.
Not big enough unless it’s tribute acts
Groundsman would have a fit and probably throw his tools down![]()
There was no glass or nails on the don valley pitch after the U2 concert.
It was keith hills feeble excuse.
The concerns regarding damage to the pitch are a bit of a red herring because we replace our pitch every season so it will be more down to timing.
I think the last playoff semi's are scheduled for midweek around the 16/17 May so it could be the following weekend or the one after that.
The stadium has flloodlights so they could work 24/7 to build a stage by the Sunday. If they were Chinese contractors they would have it built by 09.00am Friday morning after the Thursday match even with extra time, penalties, pitch invasions and celebrations. The number of fatalities would not be good though.
By the way - I didn't notice any glass or nails on the DVS pitch, but there were fairly deep ruts and holes filled with sand - surprising that we didn't get more twisted ankle injuries back then. DVS surface looked like a thinnish layer of turf laid on concrete! The Millers players must have been glad to wave it goodbye.

With NYS being relatively small, I doubt whether it would be financially viable to hold events there.
It costs a vast amount of money to stage a concert and it is necessary to shift a lot of tickets to make it worthwhile.
Yeah bloody Bono stopped us getting promoted.
What they should do is get the Tories to hold a lovely right wing rally down there, and if we don't get promoted then we can blame those cnuts.
Well the stadium holds 12000, if there was a stage at one end then take at least 3000 off that total. But the pitch area would surely hold 3000 or more. So just a rough estimation of a 12000 capacity for concerts, about the same size as Sheffield arena. Chesterfield hosted Tom Jones and Elton John concerts, not my taste, but they did it with a smaller stadium. I'm sure it could be done at NYS, my niggling feeling is that the interfering Sheffield City Council would have to be involved in the process and would not allow it.
