Just been reading through some old threads; having read the above, I was wondering if anyone has been back for a Chinese? I haven’t.

Never tried one, nor a MacDonalds.

Me and the wife have the occasional takeaway, and I do mean occasional as in once every few months.

Our lad likes one as a treat at the end of his working week and usually pops down to the Chinese takeaway at the end of our road.

They advertise online and are linked to JustEat, they've never been busier.

It's going to take more than a pandemic for people to change their habits.

When I was on the council there was a lady health inspector who had to check takeaways and restaurants, she closed quite a few down.
She used to tell us the best fish and chip shops to use and those to steer clear of.
Has nobody ever made the connection with having a takeaway and spending the next day on the bog?
    Obviously not.

Why did the left arm wrist spinner become known as a Chinaman ?

What I meant to say was that I haven't had a takeaway since the start of the pandemic and not that I don't normally have one.

Good question Prando. I've not got a clue and I've kept wicket for years to bowlers who bowl them.

I was told a few years back that it goes back to a test match in the 1930’s. A player of Chinese ancestry playing for a touring side bowled a left spinner and took an English wicket and it came from that. The term was recently banned by Wisden following complaints due to now being considered a racist term
