    It's not a myth although the terms are used interchangeably these days. Traditionally a Jack was flown from the bow of a ship on a thing called a Jackstaff.

    That's the urban myth as the term Jack predated the jackstaff by over a century.

    Couldn’t give a flag what people take to a game - used to take a French tricolour type 40 odd year ago and tie a scarf around my wrist not something to be hung up about

    we had a red stripe down the shorts in 1902/03 season red then disappeared until 52
