    League reconstruction does not need to alter the distribution of money. The order will still be 1,2,3..41,42 and the percentage share can remain unchanged.

    Only if they don't invite Brora Rangers and Kelty Hearts...and even then, I'm not convinced it's feasible. Top-flight teams will pay top-flight wages to be competitive and even with relegation clauses in contracts, they will want some security. Being relegated last in 12th still earns you 1.1m quid to ease the blow of going down, keep the same money and being relegated in 14th would get less than half that.

    There's also the - less important - consideration that you want the promoted teams being vaguely able to challenge when up - it won't always be a big side returning to the top-flight and someone of more modest means coming up with only 400,000 in prize money and the guarantee of only 500,000 if they finish last will either struggle badly or take an almost existential risk on staying up.
