You cant be blamed for trying to deal with something that hasn't happened in our lifetime when you are following expert advice. Its actually a sickening part of human nature to keep looking for someone to blame.
We have a difference of opinion, perhaps we have a difference in standards too. I just don't think people 'doing their best' cuts it, at the top end of any organisation.

I have sympathy with the government, this is a tragic event which before this year was unforeseeable. But questions surely still have to be asked how we could have responded better than we have...

We knew it started in January in China and Italy, Spain had problems in February, why weren't incoming flights from those countries checked more thoroughly? Why did the PM miss 5 Cobra meetings in February about this virus? Why have we got a shortage of PPE?

Are these not fair questions to ask?

.........and they don’t get adequately answered 923,not even close.

This fiasco with the Turkey shipment that was arriving “Sunday”.

There’s still no guarantee it’ll be here today or tomorrow.......why?

Hancock or whoever answer the question.....why?

I’ve been importing containers and LCL deliveries from China and Europe for 24years,it really isn’t that difficult.

Planes and container ships are booked well in advance so the only other explanation is that the government is lying about arrival date or the factory making the goods has f hooked up........there’s no other reasons for this delay.

If it was down to the factory then they’d be quick to call them out but they haven’t.

The galling thing about this PPE stuff is that it can all be made on fully automated production lines so it’s something that could and should be made in the U.K.

If the government had any sense at all it would create a state entity to produce stuff like this.

Once you’ve invested in the machinery you then get years and years of creating the stuff at the cheapest price.

Either that or they set up a link with a major company and agree a base price per product at the start and the only price fluctuations allowed are for inflation and increases/decreases in oil price.

Maybe it’s just the small businessman in me that makes me so angry because so many of these issues are so easily solved to the benefit of the NHS,it’s workers and the tax payer.

    Oh and by the way.......

    Matt Hancock...........LIAR!!!!

You’ve nailed it Mick. Exactly my point i’m trying to make, why can’t Hancock think more proactively and as you’ve suggested have a state run entity. There’s no contingency plan and it would seem as there’s too much reliance on one supply and be let down on the 11th hour. As a former business person myself and one that I will go onto again in future, this frustrates the living out of me especially working with incompetent people (mostly in public sector). I can clearly see the solutions in many aspects of business, yet nobody else does.

I agree 123. There's a big difference between blaming and asking objective questions as I see nothing wrong with the latter. I think there are a lot of questions that need answering as I can't but help feel we're being mislead on certain things as some things just don't add up. We can all cite hindsight as being wonderful etc but it doesn't seem unrealistic to me that a country like the UK should have provision in place for a pandemic to at least cover NHS and carers who have to deal with it but we haven't. I agree that the only one to come out of this with any credit is the Chancellor. Have to give credit to Piers Morgan as he's had some very fractious interviews with ministers on his show and has exposed several of them as really not knowing basic information about their own departments such as Health & Care. I don't think its unreasonable to expect strong leadership from our political leaders when in a crisis and holding them to account if we're not getting it.

Do you think that we are the only country struggling to get PPE? Just asking.

Rarely agree with you, but fair point! I do like Boris but whether he will cut it - who knows! If you count deaths outside of hospitals, we could be on course for the highest number of deaths in Europe. In my opinion, we were too slow with everything and Germany were the fastest with tracing, testing and PPE and look at their deaths!

My daughters boyfriend is a reservist in the army and just been called up to do testing at a drive in station - should he not have been tested himself first?

In terms of football, I like a lot of people have lost interest of late with the greed! For f uck sake - players like Orzil on 350 grand a week refuses to accept a 12% pay cut yet Southampton players have all accepted 30%. No wonder so many people ( real fans too ) have turned against football. Meanwhile, those on the front line risking their lives get a pathetic weekly clap - what an insult! Even most supermarket workers have received bonuses.

Even the furlough scheme was badly thought out in my opinion - how can Branson and Victoria Beckham furlough their staff with their absolute millions? It sickens me to the stomach how this was allowed to happen. Well done to the Australian Government for telling Virgin Australian to shove their bail out sending the airline into possible administration. Plenty of competition elsewhere! Boris should tell Virgin Atlantic too - to shove any bail out up their rear end or better still - get the greedy t wat to part with his assets/private island!

So the talk is for football to be closed behind closed doors in June! Well if 22 players and lots of other staff can play then hundreds if not thousands of kids and pub teams can also play in parks etc. There is no difference!!! As for the idea that players will be tested - that's outrageous - how can these f uckers be tested before the many thousands of key workers still to be tested and those who are vulnerable? Oh i get it - money talks again!

Just my views and the UK has brought it on themselves. Lock down? It's a long Bank Holiday compared to the Lock downs in Spain and Italy with army patrolling the streets and kids have not even been allowed out - I know as regularly speak to friends in Alicante who laugh at our lock down in comparison.

I’m comfortable that there is no better candidate, given Boris’ illness and Rishi focus on the economy.
The media questions at the Downing St briefing are dire. Far to many endeavouring to make smart statements, followed by a closed question trying to apportion blame. Now is not the time. Details of overcoming the virus is paramount and current attention / focus should be there.
I thought Laura K was good tonight and I tweeted her to that effect.
PS must get myself a decent bookcase.

I don’t do Twitter Paul so next time you Tweet Laura can you tell her I’d happily let her interrogate me at ANY time 😜😜
