Dario Gradi
Well done. Was it the Elvis Costello clue?
I am Dario Gradi
I gained all my success outside the land of my birth. Born in Italy.
The pinnacle of my career came against 'dirty' Leeds. 4th Round FA Cup defeat in 1970 playing for Sutton United. We lost 6-0
I played alongside a Barnsley icon. At Loughborough University I played in the same team as Barry Hines.
One of my achievements puts me in the top 10. 6th overall in the world in the number of professional games managed.
I was born in a city with two famous football teams. Milan
I briefly managed at the top level but was not successful. 6 wins in 27 games at Crystal Palace in Divisions 1/2 in 1981.
I represented England. I played once for England Amateurs against Scotland in the British Amateur Championships in 1967.
Ana-grammatically you can almost find me between Pump It Up and Oliver's Army. The Elvis Costello single between those two was Radio Radio, almost an anagram of Dario Gradi
I received many accolades including a gong from The Queen and having a street named after me. MBE for services to football. Dario Gradi Drive is a street in Crewe.
Unpublished clues
I didn't play a single game as a professional footballer. Only amateur.
My exceptional career ended on a very sour note. Around the Barry Bennell/Eddie Heath *** abuse scandals.

Should have that MBE taken off him.
