I'm beginning to think that the National League's sole purpose for existing is to make all of football's other governing bodies look comparatively competent!

Well done shipmate, you made me smile with that one! The downside is that when you take out the humour it's a pretty accurate summary of how we as a nation have tackled this crisis - indecision, a complete lack of foresight, and a large degree of incompetence at all levels whether it be the government or those who run the National Leagues. I realise that this is a highly complex and unprecedented situation, but I thought we were supposed to be GREAT BRITAIN, the country who led the way and showed others how to tackle a crisis. Instead it's been the exact opposite.

    BREAKING:

The National League has sent clubs the 'Ordinary Resolution'.

They've been asked to vote by Wednesday 5pm.

The Resolution remains mostly unchanged from last week’s draft.

It allows playoffs subject to 'government guidance'.

This is a summary of it:

Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter says he has had to remortgage his house to help the National League club cope with the financial effects of coronavirus.

The Hertfordshire side, fifth in the table, had voted for no play-offs, but will compete in them if clubs agree to end the season using points per game.

It will require Boreham Wood to pay for testing and take players off furlough.

"The one thing the pandemic has brought for me was a new social responsibility," Hunter said.

He told BBC Three Counties Radio: "I've had to remortgage my house, I've deferred the tax and taken a business interruption loan, but I did say my first priority was to keep people safe.

"I felt that my life's been intertwined with Boreham Wood, so it wasn't a difficult decision for me."

Hunter has been chairman for 21 years while his father has previously managed them.

National League clubs had been given until Monday to vote on how to resolve the season but a delay in issuing the papers means the date has been pushed back, with Barrow still waiting to hear if they will be promoted to the English Football League.

Asked what his partner made of his decision to remortgage the house, Hunter joked: "She put me in a headlock and told me I was wrong - and I went along and did it anyway".

So whats people's opinions on the likely outcome this week? Surely there is more than a 50:50 chance play offs will happen? In addition to that how soon will they happen? A hell of a lot of players will be out of contract VERY soon. I cant see how this can be wrapped up inside current contract periods which creates another huge mess.

He mignt end up losing everything, how long will the money last once players come back off furlough, worrying times for them, didn't he once say that the people of Boreham wood don't want a football club as even season ticket holders don't bother turning up, and at one game only 46 adult supporters actually paid, and only average 600+.

I’m hopeful we will get the play offs I can’t see why we wouldn’t.

We don’t need to worry about contracts as our players all have a year left all out of contract players left last week and quite frankly I don’t care what the situation is like at other clubs it’s not our problem.

If we start mid July it will be over within 10 days 2 QF 2 SF and final.

You are right though nothing is confirmed so we might not play again this season.
