Maybe the fee had something to do with it, if we'd picked him up on a free, or paid a couple million, I might have been more forgiving, but we paid a lot of money for him, and he never looked remotely worth it to me. Every time I watched him I had a picture at the back of my mind, it was the Derby Chairman with a pair of binoculars hanging round his neck.

I was sorry to see Jeff go, but Brownhill looks very useful.

We are short of another midfielder though.

Does anyone know when the transfer window opens?

Your memory will be better than mine 59, can you remember the last time we weren't short of another midfielder ? We haven't replaced John Deary yet, so it must be sometime before 1995.

Can Cork and Westwood go on forever?

Definitely an upgrade over Jeff. You can see already by how he gets in more dangerous positions going forward.

I was hoping when we signed him that he didn't get shoehorned into that right wing role though. He played a lot for Bristol City there and it wasn't until he was moved into a central midfield in a 451 that he started to shine.

Definitely has a trend to get into the box, should get him some goals which we really need more from our midfield.

Yes I agree with that, neither Cork nor Westwood score many, neither did Jones and Marney couldn't hit a barn door from six feet. Jeff was capable of scoring spectacular goals, but only about once a season.
