Nothing to do with virus: I wear one as a fashion statement. The wife tells me it's a big improvement.

I did think of going full cowboy with the hat, chaps and bandanna over the face.

The six shooters might be a problem in the supermarket though.

I just love the old bandanna. I also have a couple of cowboy hats including a nice suede Stetson but they just don't suit my head so I only wear them at home watching Clint Eastwood Westerns. Take your point about the guns. Shame really.

The only masks that block viruses are FFP3 and to a lesser extent FFP2, and they have to be properly fitted to a close-shaven face. And the government says these should be reserved for the NHS/ key workers.

Yes you are, Brexit will allow companies to spread globally.

Of course JCB is a global company. I said on the Brexit thread they are proof we do not need to leave the EU to trade globally.

I have no problem with it. But Lord Bamford is the guy who said 'JCB and the UK can prosper just as much outside the EU, so there is very little to fear if we do choose to leave.'

My fear is exactly this* - major UK corps investing outside Britain to maintain trade in the EU. Kind of exactly what I thought would happen.

This is significant investment and great news for JCB Germany and its EU market. The planning was pre the referendum. Perhaps Bamford campaigned to leave in full knowledge he would run his EU operation from Germany. I wonder how much of its operation could previously be performed in the UK will now shift to Germany?

I worked for a company whose order book was 50% for JCB, about 35% for Caterpillar. Probably the same now regardless of where their HQs may be.

    When was it actually opened?

When was this development first announced, issued to the German local authorities and planned?

    Pre brexit possibly?

That's just reminded me. Years ago before more exotic locations became the norm for stag weekends/nights, we kicked off a stag weekend drinking in the JCB Social Club in Rocester.

The remoaning remainiacs will just not accept that this country is Global Britain going forward.JCB are a very successful British company and if they are expanding into Europe, that is a very good sign of progress.Wihout the bureaucratic obstacles that the EU created, we can now do business with our European partners. The Germans are very keen to get a deal done asap.because their economy will suffer massively without that.
