It appears that Bilic is happy to go into the new season with Johnstone as his No. 1. The majority of fans don't appear to be as confident so we will have to wait and see. I know very little about Button so I can't make a constructive comment. If we can get Diangana, Krovinovic, Kipre plus two decent strikers over the line I will be more optomistic.

Totally agree Leicester but also agree with previous post before yours. Foster saved us a lot of points but Johnstone loses us loads of points. The only view I disagree with in the last post is Johnstone improving - for me he has got worse and could have done much better with goals conceded in the last few games. Also his kicking out and positional is no better than a pub keeper!

He looks muscle bound to me, not very agile either, however playing behind the likes of Bartley doesn’t fill keepers with confidence.

Still waiting for posters to show me the loads of points Johnstone lost us. Not saying he would be my first choice but he didn’t lose us lots of points. As a matter of fact I would say he saved us more points than he lost.

Its quite rare I agree with Al, but I do here. You could argue (perhaps harshly) that he cost us the game at Huddersfield. And he flapped at a cross against Hull.

In fact, since the restart how many points did he save us? The only one I can recall in 9 games was against Blackburn where he made a worthwhile save late on in the game.

I stand corrected as I'm not sure if this is fact, but I read a stat somewhere that since the restart we conceded 8 goals from 11 shots on target. I got a bit fed up of teams scoring against us from there one or two attempts on goal in a match.

He is still young for a keeper and I hope he proves me wrong, I think his distribution is okay but he's not the best shot stopper and his main deficiency is his indecisiveness on crosses. I hope Button is decent, because we might need him if Sam doesn't improve those areas of his game.

I'm with wba13 on this one. While not his biggest fan, I think that he probably saved us as many points as he lost us. Having said this I would prefer him as a No. 2 as opposed to first choice.

I think he seems to excel at making saves that are blasted from quite short range but for some reason long range shots just seem to fly past him without him getting near the ball. I have to agree that his command of the penalty area ain't good, whereas the kid from Stoke at The Hawthorns before lock down made the penalty area his own, and anything coming into the six yard box was gonna be his. I also thought Bartley improved way beyond the previous season and looked a far better defender than I had originally credited him. He made a lot of important blocks in the area.

Actually I was making a comparison to Johnstone and Foster in his first season. I also said that I thought he had improved the season just gone. So no I’m not going to say that he lost us loads last Year in fact he actually saved us a few at the end. But I don’t have much confidence in him.
