The handball situation is farcical, it has been for years and every time they tinker with it, it just gets worse. The solution is so simple it just won't happen, strip it right back to the original law, if there is no intent to play the ball there is no offence, end of, and leave it entirely down to the ref to decide. There would still be the occasional controversy, that's inevitable, but much less than there is now.

The game has changed, IFAB have tampered with The Laws of the Game so much that the game is becoming unrecognisable to us older fans.
The decision of a penalty, under modern interpretation, was correct and was backed up by VAR ---100% fail safe and what the modern fans wants.

Mind you, if you watched Newcastle's game at West Ham you would have to say that Hendrick got away with one in the second half. No VAR intervention in this one.

I used to know The Laws of the Game and their interpretation, however, I am becoming confused as to what the lawmakers are trying to achieve these days.
Another intepretation they have brought in is the instruction for ARs not to flag until a move has broken down! The game at Fulham saw one incident where Arsenal almost scored, the keeper making a save on the line, and then the flag was raised and a free kick given some 5 yards outside the penalty area! We also had the disallowed goal at Anfield which was disallowed for offside twenty yards outside the box. This is going to make the ARs look stupid because they are not being allowed to flag when the offence occurs.
There are no fans at present, therefore, there is no abuse, however, imagine these situations with 40000+ fans in the stadium! No wonder officials are in short supply.
