Gap in quality is huge. Wouldn't expect it to be any more one sided if this was Leicester City.
Excuses may be valid but nothing to be encouraged by here. A few fleeting individual moments, but as a team, meh.

Has Roberts passed the ball to anyone since his Barnet goal? At school he’d have called a ball greedeh f’cker.

He needs to get Roberts wide in this central role he hasnt got the space he usually gets.

Harrogate are sharper than us and deserve to be winning but that is to be expected really.

Is it to be expected tho?

OK, I know we are a team in transition but most of us are hoping to win the League this year. We don't look like that at the moment.

Just like at Wembley a dire first half, the only positive is that we are just one goal down. I don't buy into this bollox that Harrogate are weeks ahead of us in terms of fitness, we haven't managed a worthwhile attack as the home team in 45 minutes!!! If this is Ardley's preferred team and formation, it just isn't working. I accept the opposition are probably as strong as we will face in the coming season, but they're not Liverpool FFS. Have a go at them, throw a few players forward and we might realise we're playing Harrogate Town at home. There is still time to turn it around, but we won't do it playing this way. I am still hopeful, but Ardley more than the players needs to show his worth in the second half.

    I agree and disagree Elite.

I agree with your statement about the formation not working. We were doing fine at the back end of last season with 4-4-2. It was only Harrogate who found us out, and that's because we started Turner and Bagan anyway (instead of the player of the season and an experienced LB.)

I disagree with your sentiments about fitness. We are behind, Harrogate are already a few games in and are a fitter team in general who press high. We were never going to beat them toe-to-toe pressing/counter etc.

Plus, we had 5 or 6 new players starting and Harrogate had 2 (when you compare to the Play-off final).

It's disappointing but I didn't think we could win because of the fitness anyway. I'm really pondering how we have so much talent and are unable to look anything like the back end of last season. Roberts has to be played out wide or as part of a front 3, not in a number 10 role...that's Rodriquez's position ffs.

    Ardley has gone barmy!!!

At least CONNELL still played well......did you hear that Neal? COOOOOONNNNNEEEEELLLLLLL. Player of the season etc. You know, the guy you left on the bench at the final?

Still early days anyway. Time to gel?

Let's just hope the season actually happens.

What do I know though eh?

    Rubbish so far.

Rodrigues looks decent but he is receiving the ball way too deep. They just keep coming at is down the right and we have no answer. Reeves is soooo slow. We still don't have a tough tackling unit in midfield.
