On the subject of smaller clubs av just watched the Salford City fly on the wall thing from last season. They've ed 4 promotions in 6 seasons. Gary Neville's burning ambition is to keep on getting promoted but is he being realistic? How far can they possibly go? Wiv seen in Burton, Wycombe and Yeovil that championship football can be achieved for clubs of that size but that's really pushing it.
Thing is, the class of 92 are all winners, its instilled in them, that's all they know and expect as people but when does reality actually kick in?
The fact that they've reached the football league is a great achievement in itself. Surely the aim must be to stabilise Salford in the EFL and build over a longer period.
It strikes me that their ambition with Salford far exceeds their talents and they are in for a rude awakening somewhere along the line. They show a lack of respect for where they are at in my opinion.
I may be proven wrong but I can see their stay in the EFL being a temporary thing. Maybe in a decade or two we could be saying remember "Do you remember Salford Citý?"
Apologies for going O/T
