Not without a fair few rivers of blood (although I am a supporter of a democratically approved united Ireland) tut tut these Little Irelanders/Scotlanders//Welshlanders hey Sid?

I always found it odd that England play in blue shorts when the English flag is red and white. As for the flag if Scotland ever became independant then yes we should remove the blue from the union flag as they're no longer in the union. However you could argue the blue to be more a Royal Blue and therefore should stay.

Anyway Scotland will not be independant anytime soon

Will that mean we need to change our flag as well?

As far as I'm concerned you are welcome to Scotland. You've got plenty of room. All I would ask is for Cairns (there's a nice Scottish name) to be returned in its place together with the climate. You'd clearly be the winners in that deal and you can keep the blue.

"As Covid and climate change have amply demonstrated, countries need to unite and work together to find solutions"
... we don't need to unite; we just need to work together. The 'unite' thing is a typically socialist attitude. We don't need a United Kingdom; we never have been - that's just a political expression. Scotchland, Wales and NI have always been a financial drain on England - a bit like southern Europe is to the EU. Happy for all three to leave. That wouldn't stop us trading with each other. It always makes me wonder why so many clever Scots desert their own beloved country instead of making it so wonderful ...

The thing with this argument is wondering how far do you want to take it. It's a fairly typical Little England sort of statement to denigrate the devolved nations at the expense of England being so wonderful and powerful, but, if you keep zoning in like that, then the next step is "what if London told the rest of England to sod off". Because, when you talk about economic power, the likes of Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Leeds, etc etc etc have far more in common with Glasgow and Swansea than it does with the Square Mile.

We have our differences, Laxative and Horsey, but that doesn't stop me wishing you all the best for 2021 as fellow Magpies.
