I’m feeling a sense of impending doom and as I fast approach 60 next October certain health issues seem to be appearing.

I hope I’m wrong but I’ve never felt this level of dread before, it’s not even depression which I’ve had slight bouts of in the past........it’s weird, I can’t explain it other than to say that it feels like everything is closing in on me.

I’ve a sudden urge to get all my affairs in order and to organise to a level I’ve never known before.

I’m not especially scared either, I feel almost a resigned acceptance.

Maybe it’s age related and these health worries but I can’t shake the feeling.

If I suddenly stop posting get Des to check my FB page and then repost this just to prove I was right for once 😏

    I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!

I can relate to that feeling well Mick. As you well know - 2020 has been the worst year ever for me and still not over the pain, worry and psychological effects and had moments when I wished I wasn’t here. My 13 year old though is my sole reason for the times of positivity but it’s been a hard battle and still on-going. Depression can hit anymore and sadly with Covid there’s very little help out there!

Football therefore means zero in times of trouble and it depresses you even more when there are struggles and then you see that bunch of lazy useless t wats picking up salaries which most can only dream of for not even doing the basics. Should surgeons have off days too and not even get the basics right? Well we would be well screwed!

As above great post by Exiled, mental health is no joke and what with all the uncertainty at the moment Mick you are not alone in your feelings, as someone who has had the odd run in with stress and depression I can only suggest trying to spend more time doing things you enjoy and try and spend less time working, I know it’s easier said than done. Talking helps and I’m glad you are open about this, but if things don’t feel right in a few days do go and talk to someone.

As someone said to me being down doesn’t stop the world turning and the sun rising in the morning, tomorrow is another day.

Unfortunately, this present situation doesn't make for feeling on top of the world for anybody. It''s always there in the background and your mind will often wander to it. I defy anybody to say that they haven't been affected by it in some way or another. The dark evenings don't help people's state of mind either. I try to think of how fortunate I am living in the countryside in a house with a large garden and then think of others with large families couped up in a tiny flat. I am grateful for this but it doesn't always always stop the concern.
The problem is that the majority of us on this board are of an age and are far more worried about contracting the virus than those of the younger generation. Having said all this, we must try to stay positive, which I know is easier said than done.

Now we’re in tier 4 in Northamptonshire, it is depressing, swimming pool closed again after all the effort to get back to my previous level. The pool has been operating with restricted numbers and must be one of the least likely places in which to contract the virus, especially with the increased level of chlorination. Swimming is my main exercise apart from walking the dogs and I will miss it a lot; I do think that it’s one of the areas that need not be shut down.

Leicester, where in the county are you, parts of Leicestershire are very close to where I live?

Hi Kettering. I live in Newtown Linford opposite to Bradgate Park. Lovely village but being ruined by the hoards of people visiting the park. They often close the gates to the car park because it's full meaning that the visitors park wherever they can in the village, and I mean wherever they can. I would imagine you live on the east side of the county nearer to Oakham, Melton, Uppingham etc.

I live in a village about three miles west of Kettering town centre, about 15 minutes drive from Market Harborough, which is Leics, a regular place for us to go for coffee, bite to eat, etc, at least it was......!

Know it well. Played cricket there on many occasions. Used to visit it a lot when I was a Year Head and visited our feeder junior schools. The school was Catholic and we took children from the east side of the city and as far out as Market Harborough and Oakham. What's the name of the village where you live?

For some reason Phil’s Dead-o-Meter post a a few months ago truly resonated with me. According to that “death predictor” I would live to 86 y/o which I would take tbh. You’re right mate, there is always someone worse off but sadly in bad days that doesn’t register.

For me personally, today has been a very bad day.

I can’t go into details because a certain person who knows someone in my family likes to pass on family stuff I say on here to one of my close relatives.

It’s more my general health which prompted this post initially but personal family issues are like a hammer blow at this time of life.

I shall battle on I guess because I know no other way.

    Thanks for everyone’s advice.
