Out of curiosity, why does having the opinion that NA should be given until the end of the season make you an Ardley disciple? It’s a sensible approach, particularly in the middle of a pandemic and current form.

I’m in favour of NA being given until the end of the season, but I’m not an Ardley disciple.

The only way you will be proved right is if Ardley gets sacked before the end of the season. The disciples (your word not mine) are saying if we don't get promoted then he must go. No one is right if we don't get promoted and he stays.

Slow start ,we play possession football in our half thinking we are dominating the game.
They sit back and let us dictate the game in our half, letting us think we are dictating the game.
However, little did we know they came for the point.
We were respecting the point,so both teams cancelled each other out (does this sound familiar?)
2nd half opens up a little , they score from a free kick pumped into the box, free header, Bingo !
2 attacking changes from the Messiah are introduced , we look quite tasty for the last 20 mins , score an equaliser Wooton.
We Create more chances ( two shots ) in twenty minutes than the previous 70 and look quite good.
Time runs out , a draw is a fair result , people wonder why we didn't start the game with the same attacking intent as we finished with.
Post match Ardley says we knew what to expect we trained for it , they are a good team I think a point is fare for both teams .
its difficult you know , we played Saturday , Tuesday and will go again Saturday (ignoring the fact that he played the 2nd string a few days before instead)
In the aftermath The Disciples remind all the Pitchfork crew that a valuable point at home is good point, refer to the match statistics informing us we had 75% possession and therefore dominated the game and must have been unlucky not to win.
Go on to mention we've still got to play Torquay away and remind us all we've got 4 games in hand and therefore the league title is within touching distance (ignoring the fact that we wont win all of the 4 games in hand)
The icing on the cake is they also remind the doubters that we had a magnificent win at the weekend and we are in the quarters of the build a bear FA trophy thingy and Wembley beckons , echoing that its unbelievable that any proper fan would moan about their club in such a healthy position.
    Nailed it !

    The reflections of Michael Doyle:

Veteran Notts County midfielder Michael Doyle says his Gaelic football background helped him cope with 72 minutes in goal during the 3-1 National League win over Dagenham & Redbridge in goal.

With the Magpies without a substitute keeper, their 39-year-old captain was handed the gloves after Sam Slocombe was dismissed for a challenge on Darren McQueen.

Paul McCallum hit the post with the resulting penalty, allowing Notts to build on Kyle Wootton's 10th-minute opener as Ruben Rodrigues and Wootton both found the net with stunning strikes for a 3-0 half-time lead.

Doyle went 72 minutes without conceding until Matt Robinson finally beat him in injury time for a Daggers consolation.

"The gaffer [Neal Ardley] and Greg [Abbott, assistant manager] were having a bit of a laugh saying they might have to put me in there if it comes to injuries," Doyle told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"I played a lot of Gaelic football when I was a kid, at our local GAA club at St Marks in Tallaght, and I loved it, so thank goodness all those years of playing helped me with catching the ball and all that.

"The lads in front of me were amazing tonight, it was a joy to watch them. All the credit goes to them."

'I thought of Bruce Grobbelaar in Rome 1984'. Bruce Grobbelaar helped Liverpool win a European Cup final penalty shoot out against Roma with a 'jelly-legged' routine on his line in order to unnerve the Italian club's players with their spot-kicks
Doyle made saves to deny McQueen, Dean Rance and George Saunders during the match, as the fifth-placed Magpies kept the gap to Hartlepool in second at three points.

With Notts at home, the veteran Dubliner was able to borrow goalkeeper Luke Pilling's kit, and at little over 5ft 8ins (172 cm) tall, Doyle is one of the smaller members of the squad.

Having got the kit on, his first task was to face McCallum's penalty, and Doyle said he drew inspiration from a European Cup-winning goalkeeping legend to unnerve the Daggers man in the process.

"When Sam got sent off, I didn't realise we didn't have a sub keeper," he added.

"I had to wear Luke's gloves as Sam's hands are massive, and once I kitted up I thought I'd have a bit of a doss. I thought of Bruce Grobbelaar for Liverpool in Rome 1984 to try to put him off.

"I asked the goalkeeping coach Jake [Kean] where McCallum usually went and just followed it. So when I dived and saw it hit the post I jumped up like a little fly."

Well, if they win 1-0, they obviously countered their game plan. Clearly the Daggers didn't have a very good one.

“Is this a Daggers I see before me?” asks NA in the pre-match press conference, before Notts proceed to blow away the opposition 1-0 - helped in large part to D&R forgetting that the game kicked off at 6pm and only arriving at the ground at 6:30. This leaves Notts half an hour to secure the precious goal against zero men, following the one incisive move when the ball actually went forwards. “We needed to be patient,” says a triumphant NA afterwards.
