Looks a logical decision when you consider the owners background. Good luck to him and Maurice Ross.

Let's face it. This is a punt. Never heard of him but let's hope he can keep us going and climb up the league.

If he does let's hope we give them more than a month before we start any "Needs to go" or "Get out" threads.

It's only right we should give new players especially those from overseas leagues at least two months Pete

Sounds an interesting choice. Owners have obviously done their research and he certainly comes with an interesting cv. Reference to ‘off field issues’ suggests he may ruffle a few feathers if necessary!
As with all Notts County appointments, I wish him well.

Me too. I'm a big fan of Potter so any link to him and Brighton can only be a positive.

I'm hoped they would take a gamble with someone young but clearly well respected rather than tried and tested albeit with L2/NL experience like a Gannon or Flitcroft.

This appointment reminds me of going all in when playing Texas Hold'em. It's and all or nothing appointment in the eyes.

    Welcome Ian to the madhouse.

    I must admit I didn't expect a 75 year old ex-player.

    Oops sorry, wrong Birchenall.

Will be interesting to see how Doyle gets on with this. A manger who is younger and not played professionally.

Anyone else read it as Alan Birchenall 🤣

Surprising appointment, but then supporting Notts is all about travelling in hope rather than expectation. There's an interview with him here:

He starts talking at about 4 mins 30.

Looks like I did two posts earlier!

This has obviously been in the pipeline for a while, so I would guess he's watched a lot of our games. Team selection for Saturday would be very interesting if it wasn't an FA Trophy game.
