Eddie Howe had the luxury of significant financial backing in the transfer market at Bournemouth. Financial backing it's unlikely he'd receive with us.

Interestingly enough he was odds on at 4/9 for the Celtic job the other day. Our former Technical Director of Football has overseen some pretty ineffectual transfers since his appointment at Celtic.

A lot of what happens in a two horse race depends on what the other horse does, but this could be a match made in heaven...... or hell.

I think we'll sell Periera and Johnstone, generate £25-30m and give it to Sam with the mandate to take us back up.

And I think that would be a competitive budget for him.

Its clear he doesn't fancy Livermore and Sawyers.

I think we have no hope of getting Yokuslu permanently. Nor Gallagher or AMN. And I think there are better strikers than Diagne.

What will be interesting, if he does stay next season, is what he does with Diangana and Grant. Big money signings who haven't really had a sniff under him this season.

There is a big rebuild job ahead for whoever it is.

On the positive side Diangana and Grant will be like having 2 new signings next year. I expect them both to do well in the championship.

I agree, on his day Diangana was unplayable last season and Grant is proven at that level, I will have considerable confidence that we will have a very good season if we keep Sam and he gets a reasonable war chest. I worry about the owners tho and their intentions..

It's a yes from me. he's a good organiser recognises problems and deals with them, he's responsible for bringing Yokuslu and Maitland niles to us, I think he'd do the same next season. As for Eddie Howe, I think he's another Alan Curbishley good at one club only, also had a sizeable budget at Bournemouth and still they got relegated.

Keep him, but try and sort ASAP as if no deal we need to get Wilder before he is snapped up.

Interesting point - what does he do with Grant and Diangana! It’s quite obvious he does not rate them and it’s a case of - not my players and someone else’s cock up in blowing that money!

Sawyers, Livermore, Kanu and Zohore did nothing since the Blues match at home after lockdown so all four need to do one! Fat Sam rates Phillips but I don’t - like Livermore he goes missing too much and a passenger!

No tears with Johnstone going - great shot stopper but positional he’s poor!

    For me Yes.
There are so many qualities I like about him especially his no nonsense approach. Lets hope the board realise his value to our club and back him. Otherwise he will walk.
