I don’t mind watching a bit of golf. Played only once and that was with my mates at Brandhall.

Mickelson is healthier, fitter and stronger than he was 15 years ago. Not many footballers of the same age can say that. Most sportsmen play golf yet non of them can make it on the second tier of golf let alone the main tours. Many have had careers in both cricket and football but not golf and cricket or golf and football as far as I am aware, including the senior tours.

Most golf courses provide fantastic habitat for wildlife and most, if not all, incorporate providing conditions for wildlife within their plans. We have seen deer, birds of prey of all sorts, pheasants, stoats, weasels, squirrels, wild duck of many species and even black swans, over the last month or so.

And I won’t even bother explaining that most of our senior players are retirees from the local factories, and am not aware of any that are what you describe as hoist toities!
You need to understand that Des has never broken sweat in his life, he’s never got out of first gear.

I’ve tried it and I found it to be the most difficult thing I’ve ever tried along with roller skating.

Watching the 4 Majors - especially the final rounds - are usually compelling viewing. Yesterday was no exception. Brilliant to see Mickelson win - such an artist at the short game - and what makes him compelling viewing is he’s flawed... normally his driving doesn’t stand up to pressure .... yesterday it did ... and it’s true he looks so much fitter today than 20 years ago ....

I actually think golf is one of those few sports which is better to watch on TV than live ..... so much technology ... like the ball tracker and multiple angles ....

I was hopeless at roller skating Mick I spent most of the time on my arse. Is roller skating classed as a sport too, at least they move a bit faster than those golfers.
Golf is a pastime, a relaxation after a"hard day," in the office, a place to go when people are trying to get you on the phone to discuss insurance policies.
You are totally wrong about me never breaking into a sweat in my life. I have done once in 1990 when I was relaxing in my garden on the hottest day of the year.
I had phoned in sick that day because the weather people said it was likely to be the hottest day on record.
    They weren't kidding.

Each to there own Barr but I actually enjoy attending as much if not more than on the tv. I have been to 6 of the last 10 Opens and 2 of the British Masters.

Especially at the British Masters it is amazing how close you get to the players making their shots and a real insight listening to the discussions between caddie and player, although I notice some tv are doing that now as well. The only downside is the crowds following the likes of Tiger Woods at The Open so you can end up 4 or 5 rows back at times. However, the more you go the better you get at working out where to stand.

Always go Friday and Saturday and then watch the final day on the tv.

Have only been to a few golf events over the years. Went to the Open at Sandwich the year Ben Curtis won it ..... which was great for the atmosphere and just the sense of being there. But not easy to watch the golf unless you are always on the move following a group .... or you set down in one of the stands and see the same approach shot played time and again. Went to the Volvo PGA at Wentworth one year and it was pretty much the same experience. So it kind of put me off going. Mind had a great experience last year. Had the privilege of working inside the ropes at a few European Tour events under COVID rules. Fascinating to see what goes on behind the scenes ..... so much technology and infrastructure they set up for just one week ... and then they move on and do it all over again the following week .....

Got my ticket for the Open at Sandwich this year. Purchased them early 2020 before the pandemic curtailed the event last year.

I don't like any track or field events or motor racing.
Football, Boxing and Rugby are the only sports I watch.
    But each to their own.

Just like me 1955. I'm always fishing my golf balls out of the water!
