Remember the "redevelopment" project signs going up, around the same time we moved into the NYS?
...the pitch isn't the problem, probably lack of any facilities and insurance costs will put paid to any people visiting.....
Millmoor was the clubs spiritual home, & for many of older posters, we grew up with
the ground.
We saw the up & downs of football, relishing taking the big clubs down, especially the
Arsenal game, & our duel with Manchester United.
We saw some of the greatest players in football, John Charles, Stanley Matthews,
George Best, Bobby Charlton, & our own Alan Kirkman, Peter Madden, David Watson,
Tony Towner, Ronnie Moore, etc grace the Millmoor turf.
But Millmoor ran down the years, needing some TLC & eventually time caught up it,
We all remember the Hoskins & Williamson transfer, where the offices were not up
to safety standard, so the club used Giles Brearley offices at Swinton.
The old lady of Millmoor will always be in our hearts.
Great memories, but now it's just a bloody eyesore, if anything could be done it would have been done years ago, so I suspect it will just rot away.
Council certainly put a blocker on the Booths from extending it into another scrap yard. Can you imagine that being worked right up to the main road? There's enough s.hite that billows into the air from there already.
last few years, it was an absolute s4it hole .
never mind about our bogs, the disabled bogs were insane. I used to try and clean them up a bit before the games. the booths were tossers .
Are there any other clubs who still have the old ground intact after building a new one ?
Swansea have small parts of the Vetch Field still standing but it's only a turnstile and wall or two
