Seems a decent young man who obviously loves his club.
He is going nuts about this appointment. How have a club Wrexham managed to land this absolute legend ?
Well, just taking a punt here, but it begins with the letter M...
It will be interesting to see how the likely biggest financially backed NL club perform.
I guess it's do or die for the bigger clubs with money this year with salary caps coming in next season. I expect Wrexham to really go for it in the transfer market and he'd have lots of contacts. This season will be even harder than last season to get the top spot.
Is Phil Parkinson that good a manager? A career win average at 37% would suggest he is average. It’s not as though his career has been with serial strugglers either having managed some very decent clubs.
He got Colchester promoted to the Championship then left… a very good achievement.
He left Hull when they were firmly in the relegation places.
Relegated Charlton to League 1 for the first time in 30 years and failed in the playoffs the following season. He was then sacked in the January 2011 having not won a game since November.
Arguably his finest achievements were at Bradford where he achieved his second promotion as a manager. Better still they had some outstanding results in the cup. Knocking Chelsea out of the FA Cup as well as reaching the League Cup final after wins over Arsenal and Villa. He left Bradford after a failed League 1 play off campaign.
His 3rd promotion would be getting Bolton back in the Championship. He battled to keep Bolton in the Championship amid embargo’s and left at the end of that season.
He then spent a year or so at Sunderland where he failed to get them promoted.
So there are some real highs and lows in his career. 3 promotions is not to be underestimated, but 2 of those were in charge of clubs that expected to be challenging.
I wouldn’t say it’s an outstanding appointment. It’s solid.
