Thread: Anyone Going Sunday?

  1. #11
I paid £1200 (from a tout) for 4 tickets for me and my kids to see England v Brazil in Shizuoka WC 2002. Outside the stadium I reckon I could have doubled my money. Was it worth it? Back home my 12 year old was heard to say to her mate 'It was the best week of my life' so yes absolutely worth every penny.

I paid £2500 for two tickets for the Man United v Bayern Munich Champions League Final in 99 for two of my best customers, one of whom had become a good friend.

It included flights to the match, hotel and hospitality.

He gave me my first ever order on my first day of working for myself and it made me enough profit to live on for two months, it immediately took away the stress of being self employed and I just flourished after the start he gave me.

He was a massive United fan but missed out on a ticket for the match.

In 2004 he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and died three months after diagnosis.

He rang me to tell me the bad news and thanked me again for sending him to the final and told me that after his son being born, I’d given him the next best night of his life.

That choked me then as it still does today.

It’s amazing how football holds such a magic for so many people.

I got 2 tickets for the first Merseyside Cup Final. Sold them at face value to an Evertonian. Meant so much more to him and his lad than it did to me.

Only time I've ever made a profit was on a ticket for the first match at The Stad de France rugby international v England. Sold to a Frenchman so some how it felt OK!
