Definitely. It would be a travesty if we did.

That's a disgusting amount of money. People don't bat an eyelid these days, but I find it grotesque. I hope Notts never get anywhere near the Premier League...it makes me feel a bit sick.

back in the days notts were in touching distance of the premier league, the lack of o,rierdon and rideout probably lost us that chance ..

    Interesting quote on here:

The FIFA Commentary explains the position (on page 32):

“A loan is subject to the same rules that apply to the transfer of players, including the provisions on training compensation… In other words, the club receiving a player on loan is entitled to claim training compensation … for the time the player remained with it, and it can claim training compensation if the player transfers to a third club provided the player is younger than 23.”

So it looks like we miss out as Jack is, very rudely, 25.

Although we are not entitled to Training Compensation I think we 'may' be within our rights to claim a Solidarity Contribution payment from MCFC under FIFA's rules. If so, we have 30 days to make the claim as I understand it.

"If a Professional moves during the course of a contract, 5% of any compensation, with the exception of Training Compensation, paid to his Former Club shall be deducted from the total amount of this compensation and distributed by the New Club as a solidarity contribution to the club(s) involved in his training and education over the years. This solidarity contribution will reflect the number of years (calculated pro rata if less than one year) he was registered with the relevant club(s) between the Seasons of his 12th and 23rd birthdays, as follows:

    – Season of 12th birthday: 5% (i.e. 0.25% of total compensation)
    – Season of 13th birthday: 5% (i.e. 0.25% of total compensation)
    – Season of 14th birthday: 5% (i.e. 0.25% of total compensation)
    – Season of 15th birthday: 5% (i.e. 0.25% of total compensation)
    – Season of 16th birthday: 10% (i.e. 0.5% of total compensation)
    – Season of 17th birthday: 10% (i.e. 0.5% of total compensation)
    – Season of 18th birthday: 10% (i.e. 0.5% of total compensation)
    – Season of 19th birthday: 10% (i.e. 0.5% of total compensation)
    – Season of 20th birthday: 10% (i.e. 0.5% of total compensation)"

    Certainly worth a shot!

ETA: I have a feeling this may only apply to international transfers so hope PSG offer £200m for him next year.

So sad that a lad who signed up for a 5 year contract with the team he supported throughout his growing up was prepared to waive all loyalty and sign up for Moneybags City. The rumour is that they will buy Kane too. It is all moving towards the Premier League being dominated by six and probably as few as four clubs.
That is not good for the game at any level. To be honest, my admiration for Grealish has taken a knock and my faith in the game as a spectacle is considerably damaged.
Money really is the root of all evil and like Bob Dylan once said 'They say money talks. More like it swears!'
