I have no idea what you mean and it was merely a coincidence that my last rowing machine came with a number of thoughtfully provided spare parts 😊 .

I’m interested to know what Swedish Baggie makes of IKEA. I’ve seen other brands from Sweden and they are on a different level in terms of style and quality. How do people in Sweden perceive Ikea as?

As cheap, but then also affordable for many. Back in the days cheap and sometimes impossible to put together (things missing etc), that has generelly improved.

Nowadays they also have different ”levels”, with some pieces of furniture a bit more pricy, but of (supposedly) better quality.

The founder, Ingvar Kamprad (IK in the acronym IKEA, EA from where he was born) had a fling with the Nazi ideology back in the 30s, but in all honesty, so did many in Europe before their atrocities were brought into day light. He was probably an old miser, but lived as he preached, and drove an old Volvo, wore old clothes etc. He became quite popular with employees and the public.

His three sons now own and control most things. IKEA have quite a few dodgy and elaborate tax evading schemes going.

Perfect, great they have established in the UK. They must be thankful of any gov sweet deal we probably gave them in relation to tax avoidance here lol

That said, that’s quite an insight into IKEA that i never knew before, thanks for sharing that SB.

Thanks Thomas very enlightening, I guess IKEA took the best of Scandinavian design and made it as affordable as possible albeit at very low quality, I would love an Arne Jacobsen chair but at the price of a car would have to settle for a copy..
