I'm sure it was Val who let James go because in his words"he's holding back the development of Palmer".Watching Palmer play now I think Val was right.

Unless we are in the bottom 3 in January I can't see the ownership sanctioning any experienced players with absolutely no re-sale value .

Ok we brought Solly in but that was when we were deep in the relegation shyte in January 2020 .

Matty James came in last season after a very iffy start to the season under Struber .

Would Hourihane gives us anything extra for dead money ?

Well not the one I saw in the play offs last season I have to say .

I take the point coming off the bench in the second half today for Palmer may have given us more seeing the game out but at the same time Hourihane hasn't the legs these days either .

It's a tricky one to be honest .

    He's a very talented lad Bill ......... For 60 minutes .

Worries me the lad can't do a full shift or even 80 minutes to be honest .

I think that will come though.I believe he's been carrying a knock which was evident when he came off against Coventry. He's got a great career in front of him.I look forward to next week when we add to the squad.

The trouble is we have sanctioned players with no resale value and some haven't been good enough.Matt Mills,Radlinger,Ritzmaire.I'll put my faith in the coach and recruitment squad to get what they need.I might be a simple sole but I'm quite happy with the start we've had.

I'm happy too Bill , I always believe a good experienced pro has a place here but I believe we need more quality and some legs far more .

I don't actually believe inexperience today cost us two points .

It was a weak bench .

Fair point but we did have 4 or 5 unavailable today.Looking forward now not backwards.I think we should have a decent season with some quality football thrown in.Time for a few beers now.

I heard that Ismael wanted Matty James out because he was a positive influence with the young lads in and around the club and was sometimes "brave" enough to challenge some of ismael's "one trick pony" views. James was eventually proved right.
The club's media officer, Mr Andrew White, confirmed what a good man he was to have around the club and he was sad to see him go,
    .
The "Palmer development" line can be added to the many barely believable communications and downright lies eminating from Conway.
I'm sure Palmer could have learnt a lot playing alongside James in midfield.

Having reflected on yesterday and had a think, I believe the need for experience isn't necessarily as great as first thought. Most of our players are now savvy at this level. Tha looks at some of the fouls we made to slow down possible QPR breakaways for instance. The lads were 'taking one for the team' so to speak. Stylesy did a couple, so did Benson and so too Woodrow.

Some of our players are, to quote Conway 'veterans' with over 40 championship appearances! The likes of Styles, Mads, Helik, Woodrow, Brittain, Collins are clued up imo. The new lads and a couple of others like Sibbick and Palmer will keep learning as they go.

Let's bear in mind that our head coach is new to the Championship too. He'll be learning and picking stuff up as he goes. We'll have to be patient. The positives yesterday far outweigh the negatives for me. We have some very good footballers here and they'll keep getting better. There's plenty to look forward to imo.
