I have a Val story from last season .

We are at home to Reading on good Friday afternoon in an absolute huge game for both sides chasing the play offs .

The game is on a knife edge at 1-1 deep in to the second half .

To be honest a point is fine for us but Reading really do need the win over us and tensions in the technical areas are heating up .

Reading HC Veljiko Paunovic shouts something extremely disrespectful at one of our players , it may have even been Mowatt .

Except he says it in Serbian thinking no fecker will be any the wiser .

Well apart from Val who apparently knows the language well enough to know what was said .

Val just points and glares at Paunovic and tells him straight he knows what he's just said .

Paunovic has the life drained out of him and sinks .

Val when questioned on the matter on sky sports refuses to say what Paunovic said and leaves it at that .

Got to love Val .

Considering he’s not English - Val is very clued up - he’s acknowledged the support every week and I love his passion. He also demands excellence and every bit of energy from his players. I love that as can’t stand player power and managers like clueless Darren Moore or the likes of Fat Sam whose only energy is checking his wallet! Val seems a proper manager wanting the best for everyone!

That’s why coming to places like Barnsley is great - good banter and really decent supporters. Sounds stupid but prefer the Championship over the Premier - better days out and no VAR. Obviously we want promotion but just stating a fact!
