Poland v England. We're top of the table, guaranteed qualification, and playing like a set of blind geriatrics. Awful.

He picks pretty much the right players and then shackles them. Would love to see that team given full attacking licence to play what they see

Another point on the board, but naive & strange decision by Southgate, not to use any subs - 1-0 up, away from home, 10 mins to go etc.
Englands "saviour" again, Kane, grabs all the plaudits, speculative /average shot at best finds back of the net, but for Polands equaliser, Phillips gets criticised for not closing down faster enough. Lets not mention the shift he has just put in, his much improved decision making, when on dubious yellow, or where was Englands RB in time of need. Hey ho

Phillips was our best player and its hardly his fault we have a manager who is proven to be poor when it comes to game management.

With that squad of players at his disposal England should be playing better football but Sage-Gate prefers the extreme caution brand of football.

Imagine Bielsa with that group of players........

    Why no subs? Very strange.

The fundemental problem when you play "safe" and boring football is that sooner or later you have to win... either in the knockout rounds or when you are playing a critical game in group play.

He's done a good job in picking a very good team.

Yep you need a few ways of playing. Italy have evolved into a team that can attack very well but also defend like the old days of required too.

We seem to rely on the other team making a mistake eventually or a moment of brilliance rather than constantly probing and attacking.

To use the popular phrase when we are in transition from defence to attack rather than attacking with speed we tend to slow the game down and keep possession whereas a lot of teams will get the ball forward ASAP to exploit the space before any bus can resume it’s parked position!
