This isn’t Betty Stove patting it back and forth with Rosie Casals Viaduct!

I’ve worked at women’s tennis tournaments in Birmingham and stood within feet of the girl receiving serve, you can barely see the ball even in the women’s game due to the speed of it.

If I put a 20 year old you on court with Radacanu the only time you’d touch the ball was when you served it up for her to what straight back past you.

Most people don’t have a clue as to how fast and how fit girls like Emma are.

Mick is spot on. I ran a team for five years at club level and on one match just before we went on court Anne keothavong was hitting with her partner and it was unbelievably fast, and she often went out of tournaments first round! Tennis is one of the most mentally and physically demanding games out there and often because the mental side affects the physical so much. Raducanu will be one of the greats. No Question.

I used to be at Edgbaston Priory for the pre Wimbledon women’s tournament Boingy.

I was amazed at not only the speed of serve amongst “average” women pro’s but the level of spin and bounce on the serving.

You were looking at 100mph plus with heavy spin and at shoulder level when it arrived at the opponent.

Hand/eye coordination has to be superb to even get you close to the ball.

Such a hard game. I think I told you about some trainers who played a practice match at the club and we couldnt keep up with the speed and power just watching them. I spoke to one of them after and he said that when he plays his cousin he can't get near the ball and get this......his cousin was ranked 1,200 in the world. Really built up my appreciation for the sheer class of anyone in the top ten!

I've played football (Saturday league) and I've captained a tennis team and I can tell you now If I had a bad game in a football match you can get away with it. Have a bad game at tennis and you don't have the luxury of ten other players to protect you. You're on your own. No room for error.
