Not with young kids but some experience and quality which they tried to give NA last year with Ellis, Effiong etc.
Agree with that. I’m all up for us playing this way in we attract decent young players on loan and help develop them in the process by giving them gradual playing time in less pressured situations. I did say the other week even before Patterson even signed that I would have signed an experience keeper for short term cover. An experienced keeper knows how to talk and command his defence which is invaluable.

Yup, if only games were 70 minutes long.

This reminds me more than a bit of the time Ricardo Moniz was in charge. We let far too many goals in and far too often collapsed when sides put us under pressure. However, as was the case with Moniz, we also played well at times and didn't have any problems creating and scoring goals, which is the most difficult part of the game.

As frustrating as the last two games have been, it's worth remembering that we played well and got ourselves into a winning position in both, so it's not the case that absolutely everything is wrong. We've got to take these bitter experiences and learn what we need to do to convert our good work into results.

Obviously it's difficult to be constructive right now (and you risk the wrath of a frustrated message board if you try!) but I don't feel as despairing about this team as I did about some past Notts teams such as the ones under Steve Thompson, where we couldn't even create chances. The current side does have talent and creativity within it, but we need to get the balance right between attacking and defending and we need to grow and strengthen the character of the squad. There's a reason why bad experiences are called 'character building', and hopefully we see the benefits when we work ourselves into good positions in future.

Personally, I'm not hitting the panic button just yet. Although I'm very angry at the capitulation tonight and on Saturday, I still think we have enough to challenge at the right end of the table when we have a full strength team. There is definitely a bit of a problem with defending and mentality at the moment, but I'm pretty sure IB will try to address that.
Sutton had a very average start last season and then went on an unbelievable run. Yes, it will take a lot for us to do the same and I'm not convinced it will happen at the moment, but I'm certainly not going to start calling for the manager's head yet either.

Yep and you only need to go back as far as some of the dull and dire performances from the middle of last season to see how bad things can really get. 70 minutes on Saturday and 80 minutes tonight were fantastic in comparison.

The unfortunate thing though, is that looking through even the most rose-tinted glasses, we’re a long, long way off title winners or even top 3 which I think was the aim at the start of the season.

I’m not calling for his head either, but I continually read the words “I’m pretty sure IB will try to address that”. When? When will he address it? We seem to be going backwards rather than forwards.

Do you think he can? I don't.

Nicely put. IB needs more time for sure but he will only be afforded so much. There is no concidence that without 3 of our experienced pros in the side we have gone on the slide. The issue I have is that we replaced them with kids. That has been very naïve. When re brought the experienced Ellis in last season as a loan after Lacey got injured and he made a massive difference. This season we have brought in kids - again - I can't remember a situation pretty much since Grealish and Mcgregor, Grant and Yates where kids have had a positive impact on the team and I would be surprised if there isn't a reasonable 'head it kick it' leadership quality older centre back doing the rounds looking for a game languishing on the subs bench or lower at a league 2 club. And all of those loans were long term things not emergency things. With all the leaders out injured we've done a pretty daft thing IMHO lets hope we learn from that. There is a marginally positive slant for you
