    Let's hypothesize.

Let's say MS would be happy to sign a 2 year extension to his contract (seasons 2022/3 and 2023/4) for an extra 10K/week (1M total)

Let's say there are 10 MM posters who by various means (remortgaging/raiding pension fund/selling wife) can get their hands on 100K each (1M total)

Let's say the 10 MM posters approach TS with this deal. We'll give you the 1M to get MS signed up now. Conditions are you pay us back 60K each for each year (2022/3 and 2023/4) we play in the Championship.

Net result the MM posters each lose 100K (we never get to the Championship) or each lose 40K (we spend 1 season in the Championship) or each make 20K (not a bad return for 2 years investment) if we spend 2 years in the Championship.

Anyone ready to speculate to accumulate?

Extra 10k a week? I’d want more than Michael Smith for that kind of money. That would mean he’d be on approx 15-16k a week.

    We must keep Smith

No January transfer let him leave for a free.

He can get a massive signing on fee and wages to set his family up for life and we can have the best shot off automatic/promotion.

Nothing else will be good enough

Much as we dislike it, this is exactly the right time to sell Smith providing it’s a suitable fee

In the real world it’s about cash and survival, so we have to sell

If we do then honesty is expected and no hiding behind “ undisclosed”

But…… if he leaves for nowt at the end of the season and we get promoted, it will be like selling him for £7m plus, and nobody’s gonna pay that.

And there’s the confidence issue, nobody comes for him, he looks a bit lacking, fans get on his back and it all unravels

Or we could not get promoted and we loose loose. If the fee is a big UN then the warne team have a tough decision to make
