The club is then owned by the fans
Ive said before on here the only way to do it is for every ST holder to stump up £2000 each which on 11000 ST would’ve £22m . If the club loses £1m then£100 each goes in for the year.
That’s how it’s done , but until people are literally prepared to put there money where there mouth this then you just have to suck it up I’m afraid. I’ll quite happily do it - any others ?
The club is then owned by the fans
that's fine to buy the club then there's the running costs its around 12 million a year for a mid table championship side that's not including players purchases and tax.
the thing is the more owners you have the more problems you can have a fan that puts more money in will want a bigger say you would never please the majority of the fans.
Fan owned models tend to fit with all due respect to them smaller clubs .
Exeter City is fan owned I believe .
The club is too big for this kind of model in this day and age in my opinion although I do agree with the idea .
I'm not saying we are a big club but just too big for this kind of model .
It's a multi million pound business , who would have this kind of expertise .
People may well have their own successful businesses but the football industry is way different .
The best you'd achieve in my opinion would be to have a fan on the board who represents the fans .
We already have that in James Cryne and his 20% stake .
That's not working too well either .
2 grand to own a 10000th of barnsley. Or take the wife n kids away. Or keep them warm....... hmmmmmmm were not a London club were the majority of fans have ££££ to spare. Most of us are struggling to keep afloat as it is.
You’ve answered your own question differently to how I’d have answered. If a Barnsley born Billionaire was in ownership and the club was in such a mess as it is now I’d guess they’d get as much stick if not more.
