To be fair to England you can only play what's in front of you and to back off after 6 or 7 goals would be unprofessional. The women's game is going through a period of change and readjustment. The top teams are benefiting from the same coaching and data that has become the norm in the men's game.

We appear to have a good pool of talented players in England now which bodes well for the future and the upturn in interest in women's football can only benefit the men's game with the old stereotypes for young girls no longer holding them back. More girls interested in playing football means more young fans attending games.

More surprising was the reaction from them as the goals were well into double figures. Arms flung aloft like they’d scored the winning goal in the WC final.

Let’s be honest.. the women’s game is still in its infancy. You only need to look through men’s football history to see that games were a mis-match.
Our biggest win in the league is 11-1 v Newport… look where the 2 clubs are now.
Our biggest defeats are 9-1, 3 times.
In the Premier League there have been numerous 8-0 and 9-0 wins. The most recent in Feb this year.

Mismatches are part and parcel of football IMO. Although results like the women’s one last night are not good, the teams won’t improve if they continue to play teams of the same standard.

Quite possibly, no justice for Eli though.

I think there is a difference between freak results and thoroughly predictable demolitions!
Most teams can get seriously thrashed on their really off day.
When it happens almost every game something is going seriously wrong.

Why is women's football being rammed down our throats on radio and TV ?

It's the new world; same down here in all forms of sports. Women's AFL is always good for a laugh. An increase in high-pitched squealing female commentators too.*

    * Note to the female board members...not intended to be ***ist, merely an observation.

    Agreed. 64 shots v 0 is a definite demolition!
