He has been consistently mediocre over many seasons now. There was a brief, glimmer of improvement in some recent games but yesterday he was back to his woeful worst. Nobody's disputing that he tries hard and he does seem a 'nice' lad but we cannot pay for those qualities. The simple fact is that he is out of his depth at this level and, despite countless opportunities, has only performed even adequately on a handful of occasions. The fact that we recently gave him a new contract is utterly baffling.

Think Roberts has been okay recently - the problem is we need players who are phillips/rapha/Bamford quality and he isn’t and may never get there.

Seems to be a well liked hard working pro but injuries have hampered him and he is a forward not a CAM so doubly hard for him.

He may turn into a very good player but the conundrum is we need him to be that player now.

He also puts in the effort too.

You are really stretching the envelope of optimism if you think Roberts may ever get anywhere near the standards of Raphinha and Phillips.
