Let's forget about the tribulations of today's Albion and stick with 1978/79.

This was one of those 'I was there games.' The best Albion team I have ever witnessed 8 of them might make my all time best X1. Tragedy they never won owt!

What happened? We wasted the Robson Moses money and followed Atkinson with Wylie, Stiles, Saunders, Talbot and Gould.

It's great to remember feats of the past and quite correct to do so but we must also be concerned with the here and now.

Yes but there are plenty of posts on here about the here and now to depress us. This started about one of all time great days. Can't we have a post that is pure Albion joy?

I think Mick summed it up when he said that the death of Tom Silk was a great tragedy. He had ambition and vision for the team and the ground.
Look what we have running us now.

I shake my head these days when I hear about how much fitter and faster today’s players are.

    It’s utter rubbish.

Watch highlights of us in our pomp and the speed and movement of our players on terrible pitches.

Today’s players faster than Willie or Laurie?

    Yeah rite.....utter b o l l o x!!!!

Watch Chris’s montage of Willie and convince me or any of those fullbacks that Sterling or anyone else is faster!!?

I went to Derby in the cup when we won 3-2 and Willie beat two players in as many seconds and fired in from twenty yards.
Next morning a workmate said they speeded that film up didn't they?

The same game the Derby fans were booing every time he had the ball, and Willie just started doing outrageous things. He trapped a forty yard pass with his arse right in front of them.
To quote The Jam, that's entertainment.
