Yes, Ukraine is understandably bitter because the Americans have stepped in in the past in Bosnia and Libya citing "humanitarian" reasons but there has been a big sea change in US thinking since then. It is true that NATO could still help with direct military support but this would then effectively mean declaring war on Russia, as Ben Wallace pointed out. The question then is whether or not Putin would step down in this game of brinkmanship or escalate it into WW3 with all that entails. Given his personality, seems the West don't want to gamble on the risk of that despite all their condemnations of the invasion.

What I do think will happen however is that NATO will strengthen its forces in all its more Easterly member countries such as Poland. Biden has already stated that NATO is open to allowing other countries to join should they wish which is a clear message to Putin that his demands that the Baltic countries between the two should not be allowed to join is being re-buffed. He won't take kindly to that and it won't help Ukraine but it should help stop further Russian expansion unless he really is deluded enough to declare war with NATO nations himself.
The clearest signal to Putin would be if Finland and Sweden joined NATO. They both have borders with Russia and Russia would have nowhere to go, then. Unfortunately it won't happen, as people still believe they can talk to this sociopath

In my opinion, Putin wants a war with the West (NATO), he wants to defeat us and be the great new Zsar. The best hope we have is that the Russian people will overthrow him as their death toll rises and isolation increases.

    China are starting to be p I s s e d at Russia’s actions.

This is something that Putin is going to have to take into account.

China abstained in the UN vote.
Not a ringing endorsement of the Russian action. Not all communist parties are the same.
This game of chess has yet to see the bigger pieces been moved on the board.

Lots of looking over the shoulders at what others are doing...

The world Putin lives in, or at least his mind lives in has long gone.
He's trying to take us back to the 1950's and 60's.
Not only will the rest of the world not tolerate it but neither will his own eventually.
His day's are numbered one way or another.

    Never underestimate one man.....
When the white man first started arriving in North America.....they would see an Indian and want to go after him to kill him.
But they learned quickly.....THERE IS NEVER JUST ONE......🏹
