I went to the pub last night and everyone was drinking Guinness, wearing tall Irish hats and dancing to Irish music. There were no Irish people in there.
Why do we celebrate Ireland's national day when we aren't Irish? I doubt they get p issed on St George's Day.
No problem at all with people celebrating their national day, I just wonder why we have to celebrate them as well.
Another thing that annoys me is white people trying to talk like Jamaicans.
It's cringeworthy to both us and the Jamaicans.

Coming up to 15 years now I've lived in London, met many people from all over - the US, Asia, Africa, Europe. Never met anyone who had any problem with St Georges Day, our flag, Christmas, Easter....

Has anyone on here ever met anyone offended by our traditions? I'd be amazed if so.

Its made up propaganda, in order to get a reaction like the one we're seeing on this board.

It amazes me that the people who complain about others being over sensitive, woke and snowflakes - are most often the ones offended by absolutely nothing!

The flag is certainly an issue. The government should enforce the flag flying over every single public building without exception. The national anthem in my view should also be played before all sporting events and the taking the knee should be now abolished.

You mention the US but we do lots of business in the States and no doubt you will agree the national flag is almost on every building there and before a sporting event every person of every colour or religion stands for the national anthem. Almost everyone without exception.

Is it because the US are patriotic and we are not or is it because no one would expect a snowflake there to oppose the national anthem or flag as it would be deemed truly offensive.

Can’t comment on other points although schools are now pressured into the woke culture and lo and behold if they don’t celebrate other festivities as much as our own. Schools now are bringing up the “ it’s fine to be gender free”. So to even put into a child’s mind at the age of 12 it’s ok to be an it or they and you don’t have to be female or male is outrageous and disgusting. I know a number of parents who have excused their children from such lessons - we are talking good schools too with educated views. Pathetic at such a young age along with gender free toilets and girls not wearing school skirts.

So for me - I have commented on what I have seen and experienced first hand. I have not even purchased a newspaper for at least 15 years. Why would I? Even the BBC have their own agenda and to think we are paying those bunch of s hit heads too!

My view any excuse for a P up.
In an ideal world I’d like to have some excuse or other. Saints days, What about sinners days? I can fill the calendar with plenty of candidates.

But why 'should' we have flag flying and fire out national anthems? What do we benefit as a nation? The US is a bad example, such a basket case of a country that most of their population know very little about anything outside of America. Patriotism should die out in reality, just a way of forcing loyalty through peer pressure. Blind loyalty because you woke up one day born in a country. They used patriotism in the older days to get you to loyally fight in wars for kings you know nothing about. It holds very little purpose these days.

I find it odd that there are staunch advocates of abolishing religion but crave patriotism.

For me, we are one of the most forward thinking, liberal and tolerant nations in the world. Want to fly a flag, fine...don't fly a flag, fine...who cares? We teach tolerance now as we're a smart enough nation to know that people are different and we shouldn't treat them different...why is that such an issue? It's not 'woke' it's the 21st century Al.

WHO is saying you have to celebrate it? Perhaps your question should be why folk who are not from Ireland enjoy a Guinness and a bit of a knees-up, all forgotten about the very next day - you seem very worked up about it. The point is you don't have to celebrate and neither does or should anyone else - we are a free nation.

Now white people talking gangster lingo is another matter altogether and it too annoys the fk out of me.

Some people love their counties though Matt. Take the Ukrainians - they are fighting to protect their land as they clearly love their country. Most refugees from Ukraine will return back when they are able. The Afghan army despite not being bombed clearly did not have the same stomach as they ran away despite being trained, equipped and without any fight whatsoever. No dying there for your country!!

Teaching 12 year olds about it’s ok not be a male or female is sick. Perhaps in the sixth form a debate yes but to 12 years olds? Sorry it’s outrageous.

National anthems - I get your point but that’s choice! You can’t generalise and say the US is a basket case of a country - I agree a lot there are not educated as they don’t travel but they have everything - cities - different climates and the country is vast. Yes there’s many uneducated there in some States but there’s also some of the finest surgeons and engineers in the World! Some countries in Europe are of the view the U.K. is full of yobs and whilst that’s a general statement to make - many U.K. seaside resorts are full of yobs and you can certainly tell whose British whilst driving through Spanish coastal areas!
